Chemical Engineering

Chemical engineering is the study of chemical compositions, bio-molecules, catalysts, etc. Chemical engineers are in great demand because of the large number of industries that depend on the synthesis and processing of chemicals and materials. In addition to traditional careers in the chemical, energy and oil industries, chemical engineers enjoy increasing opportunities in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, electronic device fabrication, and environmental engineering.

Prerequisite-

  • B. Tech Chemical is a 4-year undergraduate engineering course on practical and theoretical knowledge of Chemistry.

  • The minimum eligibility for this course requires passing class 12th/ Higher Secondary Examination in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English with a minimum of 75% marks.

  • The student must have an interest in Chemistry.

  • The student must know the current placement trends in various engineering colleges and hiring trends in Industry.

Trends-

  • It is so much in demand as every country is willing to make efficient use of energy resources which originate from different chemical compounds (crude oil).

  • Chemical Engineering techniques are used for the production of usable, high quality products such as fibers, fabrics, paints, medical drugs, biomaterials, gasoline, lubricants etc used in various industries such as textile, food, plastics, automotive, aerospace, petroleum, oil and gas, biomedical, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, thereby increasing the scope of Chemical Engineering.

  • Other than chemical compounds, Chemical engineers design, maintain and operate large scale machinery, industrial plants and chemical processes required for the production of various usable products.

Job Opportunities-

  • Chemical engineering has a large set of opportunities which exist at upper and lower streams.

  • There are many companies which recruit Chemical engineers at nice salary packages.

  • The Annual Salary package varies from 2 lakhs to 12 lakhs.

  • The Average Package for a CS Engineer is 3 to 4 Lakhs per annum.

  • Various top MNCs and organizations that hire chemical engineers are Reliance Industries, HPCL, IOCL, NPCIL, ONGC, CIL, any many more.

Future Scope-

Students may go for Pharmaceuticals companies

  • Students may go for Agrochemicals Companies

  • Students may also pursue Education and research
