BITS Pilani will conduct Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT), BITSAT is an online computer based test (CBT) that is held to shortlist aspirants for admission at BITS campuses located at Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. BITS offers admission to interested candidates in its Integrated First-degree programmes including BE, Pharma, and MSc programmes. Every year around 2,00,000 candidates applies for BITSAT and out of which only 2200 get enrolled.



For admission to any of the First Degree programmes of BITS:-

Aspirants should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English.

Admission to all the programmes is subject to the conditions given below:-

  • Aspirants should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects (if he/she has taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects (if he/she has taken Biology in BITSAT) subjects in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology subjects.

  • Only students who have appeared for 12th class examination or who have passed 12th class Examination in 2018 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2019 test.  

  • Students who have passed 12th examination in 2015 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT. Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses too are not eligible to appear in BITSAT

  • Admissions will be made purely on merit. The merit position of the candidate for admission is based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT-2019. However, their eligibility for admission is subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in 12th examination, as mentioned above.

  • BITSAT authorities offer direct admissions to those candidates who are top rankers of all central and state boards. The candidates belonging to this category should have obtained an aggregate of 75%  marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks in each subject.


Exam Pattern:

  • Mode – Computer-Based Test

  • There are four sections in the exam (Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency & Logical Reasoning, mathematics/Biology)

  • Physics (40 Q), Chemistry (40 Q), English Proficiency (20), Logical Reasoning (15), Mathematics/Biology (45 Q)

  • Each question carries 3 marks and -1 for an incorrect answer

  • MCQ based 3 hours Computer Based Test



  •  Rs. 2750 for male candidates and                                            

  •  Rs. 2250 for female candidates.


Note:-The candidates who have chosen the exam center as Dubai, they will be required to pay the US $60 as Indian Rs. 4000 application fee for both Male and Female.



  • BITSAT exam pattern is such that the test paper comprises of questions of Class 11 and Class 12 level as found in NCERT books.
